Collingdale Fire Co. #1 has a long history of public safety education. Over the past 30 years we have been Pennsylvania State award winners 4 times as well as recipients of the Delaware County Firemen’s Association’s “Andrew Hogan Memorial Fire Safety” award.We provide fire prevention and life safety education all year long. Our busiest time is always during Fire Prevention Week in October.  Among the tools we use during presentations are our “Sparky” animatronic robot and our Surrey Fire Safety Education Trailer.

Seasonal Safety Tips

Sparky is the perfect tool for preschoolers. He teaches about

  • The Friendly Firefighter
  • Stop, Drop, and (cover your face) roll
  • 9-1-1
  • Don't Play with Matches and lighters

The Fire Safety Trailer was purchased through a Federal Assistance to Firefighter grant in 2006 and provides entertaining education for adults and children. The trailer is broken into two sections;

  • The front is a "home" setting with bleacher type seating. Participants learn about all types of home hazards.

  • The back features a bedroom setting where participants practice Two-Ways_Out. The practice includes a heated bedroom door and hollywood style smoke for a more realistic experience

The trailer also features a "Severe Weather Package for training in the event of weather such as hurricanes, tornadoes, etc..
